Cue the confetti guns, because my blog just had a birthday!
ashleylilley.com and @ashleylilleyblog on Facebook and Instagram are officially 2 years old, and my blog has just surpassed 100 posts. Whoo!

Here are some of the highlights:

Just for Fun

Here are some stats, just for the fun of it.

  • I’ve published a total of 90,680 words in blog posts alone.
  • The most popular time to read my blog is Friday at 4 PM
  • My average reader is female over the age of 55. I credit all the aunts and grandmas who are learning about special needs so they can support the littles in their lives. Way to go, Ladies!

Top Blog Posts

Here are the top five of my one hundred posts, according to page views. These are your favourites:

#5: Can We Talk About Swearing?
This one actually surprised me. This post received very few comments and reactions, but it is my 5th most-read post of all time. Maybe some of you are still digesting what I had to say there!

#4: What Hurting People Need (Part One)
This is part one of the very first series I wrote for this blog. It’s also part one of the longest series I’ve ever published here.

#3: 5 (More) Reasons Why Anne of Green Gables is Neurodivergent
I can read a room, haha! After the popularity of my other Anne of Green Gables post, I wrote this one as a follow-up. It’s doing well at third-most read of all time.

#2: Sensory Sunday School: How the Church Can Do More for Special Needs Families
I’m thrilled that this post is ranking so high. While I wrote it specifically for churches, this post outlines some steps on how to create a safe sensory space for special needs children, and can be applied anywhere from schools to waiting rooms.

#1: 15 Reasons Why Anne of Green Gables is Neurodivergent
No surprise here! Anne is my #1 post of all time. I think pointing out some of the signs of ADHD in such a well-known and beloved character has helped clear up some of the confusion many of us have about what ADHD actually looks like. I received a message from one person saying that this post was the first post that made them say, “huh,” and they are now pursuing a diagnosis for themselves!

Top Social Media Posts

And here are my top 5 social media posts of all time, according to my “reach” statistics. If you missed them, give them a like and a share now (pretty please).

#5: Pizza Lunch
This shaky-cam reel actually did well!? This is a video of me packing a lunch box for my son to go along with my two-part series of posts on Feeding Disorders. The video quality isn’t great, but I guess enough people found it interesting! You can read the blogs that go along with it HERE and HERE.

#4: Physical Symptoms of Anxiety Disorders
This post was part of #mentalhealthawarenessmonth

#3: Autism Support in Saskatchewan
This post links to diagnosis and support agencies in the province of Saskatchewan.

#2 Put Your Oxygen Mask on First
This one was a personal heart-cry from myself and special needs parents like me. I’m thankful people are listening. I can only hope that listening and empathizing will one day lead to actions.

#1: A Fan Moment
This was a spur of the moment Instagram post of me fanning over The Last Thing He Told Me novel and TV adaptation. Such a good book! And it was brought to life very well. This post is far and away my most successful social media post to date, so I guess I need to send a thank-you note to Laura Dave and Jennifer Garner for their star power!

Thank you Readers for two great years! See you next week, (most likely on Friday at 4 PM) 🙂

  1. Life is definitely a learning process. I wish what I know now, I knew when I was raising my two boys. The other issue is that it takes so darn long to heal from your own childhood, so you end up passing on the dysfunction. At least each generation improves so not to pass on so much dysfunction. I appreciate your posts.
