Today will be short and sweet as summer is here, and we are ready for adventure. Like always, I’ll be taking approximately a month off the blog to make memories with my boys. I’ll be back with more Autism & ADHD articles in a few weeks.
As for what is going on my world, specifically my diagnosis journey, I’m afraid it’s been about the same: filled with frustrations and delays. Most of the things I’ve been in testing for are still outstanding or stalled.
I have made some headway though, and I’m happy to report that I have officially gotten a diagnosis of ADHD Type I. No small feat, I’ve discovered, for someone my age and gender!
I really don’t have the words to describe just how exhausted, frustrated, and demoralized I’ve been feeling these past eight months. I have been waiting 38 years for someone to simply shut up and listen to me, only to have my providers interrupt me, speak over me, patronize me, discount what I am saying, and try to explain away my concerns as insignificant when I know they are not.
I’m already completely used to this from medical doctors, of course. I don’t know why I thought that a psychologist and psychiatrist would be any different, but–naively–I did. I thought that someone in a profession that is built around listening to people would maybe–I dunno–LISTEN, but here we are.
I am angry. I am tired. But I am unwilling to be bullied anymore. 38 years is quite long enough. So, as I go a little quiet this summer, please keep me in your thoughts. I’ll still be battling behind the scenes, and will (hopefully) have some more news in the Fall.
That’s it. A brief update and vacation notice, just like the title said. I’ll be back sometime in August. In the meantime, please take a moment to follow me on Facebook or Instagram, or to double-check that you’re subscribed to this blog. Your support means so much!

I didn’t know there were different types of ADHD. Perhaps that could be a future topic. I’m curious to know what the types are and what they mean.
