It seems that the federal and provincial programs to help parents of autistic children here in Canada are a well-kept secret. This is not ok with me. No family should have to struggle without care simply because no one has told them their options.

There has been a lot of talk in recent years about "The Mental Load." That is, the parts of a job that don't get recognized, but are usually more work and stress than the actual job itself. I wanted to introduce this idea to anyone who hasn't heard of it before, because I know--with 100% certainty--that someone you love is carrying a heavy mental burden right now.

A study in 2020 found that autistic children are three times more likely to drown than their neurotypical peers. And a study done between 2009 and 2011 found that 91% of autistic child deaths are caused by accidental drowning.
